Academician Sakharov Prospect
The city offered the movement “Open Russia” a new place in the center of Moscow for the meeting 29 April—, activists can get together and pass a procession under the prospectus of Academician Sakharov. This was announced on Tuesday, April 18, the head of the Moscow Department of regional security and counteraction of corruption Vladimir Chernikov Agency RIA Novosti.
Officials allowed the opponents of the participation of the incumbent President of Russia in elections of the head of state to hold a rally in another location instead Slavyanskaya square, which organizers originally indicated in the application. According to Chernikov, “Slavyanskaya square is one of the major hubs where there are 12 public transport routes (including trunk), and the overlapping of movement for vehicles violated transport links”. In this regard, the participants proposed to meet on 29 April at 13:00 at the house №9 on Sakharov Avenue and pass by the procession to the house №38 along the street Masha Poryvaeva.
The response has already been sent to applicants and they will receive it before the end of the day, said Chernikov.
The previous opposition rally in Moscow, which on March 26 was organized by the supporters of opposition leader Alexei Navalny was not officially sanctioned and ended with arrests of participants. Then on Tverskaya street gathered, according to police, up to 8 thousand people. Of them law enforcement officers detained more than 800.
Shortly before these events, the mayor’s office denied the opposition to agree action and proposed to move it in more remote areas Sokolniki and Lublin. The organizers refused to do so and expressed its intention to withdraw to the Tverskaya street. Unauthorised demonstration took place on 26 March in many cities of Russia.
