Ernst: Julia Samoylova will participate in the Eurovision song contest in 2018
An agreement already exists with the European broadcasting Union.
MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. Singer Yulia Samoylova, who will not go to Eurovision in Kyiv in may this year, will take part in the competition in 2018, there is a corresponding agreement with the European broadcasting Union. TASS said General Director of “First channel” Konstantin Ernst.
On the eve of the First channel refused to broadcast the show in Kiev. The decision was made against the refusal of Ukraine to enter Samoilova.
“We discussed this with the European broadcasting Union, and they know that Russia will participate Yulia Samoylova,” said Ernst, answering the question TASS correspondent about the possibility of Russia’s participation in “Eurovision-2018”.
The head of the First channel said that the European broadcasting Union (EBU) should be aware that the competition will lose a significant audience due to the cancellation of broadcast in Russia.
“It is the choice of the European broadcasting Union, they are the organizers of the competition. I think they should primarily monitor compliance with the contest rules, which are unlikely to provide that a country which is at the moment the contest may impose restrictions on participants,” said Ernst.
The first channel has declared that Russia on “Eurovision” will present Yuliya Samoylova March 12. On 22 March it became known that the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) for three years was denied entry to the country singer for performance in 2015 at the concert in the Crimea. The head of the European broadcasting Union Ingrid Deltenre in an official letter said that Kiev may be subjected to sanctions because of the decision of the SBU. The Supervisory Board of the National public broadcasting company of Ukraine urged the EBU not to interfere.
The final of “Eurovision-2017” scheduled for may 13.
