Moscow is not perceived as an ultimatum to the statement of US state Secretary Rex Tillerson on Syria. This was stated by the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Her words quoted on Tuesday, April 11, RIA Novosti.
“I consider [Tillerson] as a political statement, as a muscle-flexing before the talks. This is quite in line with the approaches of Washington,” the diplomat said.
Earlier on Tuesday the Secretary of state said that Russia must make a choice between “US and sane countries on one side and Iran, Hezbollah and the regime of [Syrian President] Bashar al-Assad on the other.”
The Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs, Andrey Klimov suggested that Tillerson made the announcement due to the fact that it is not enough to understand the issue. “If he knows the real situation, and says so, then it is a very dangerous symptom, the MP said.
The evening of 11 April Tillerson arrived in Moscow on his first official visit. 12 April will be his talks with Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov. One of the main topics of the meeting will be a missile attack, the United States, inflicted on the night of April 7 at the airport in the Syrian province of Idlib.
