Russia was unable to prevent a chemical attack in Syria that killed 89 people last week, said the U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson.

As said Tillerson in the broadcast American TV channel si-bi-es, Russia at the time, took on the responsibility to control the process of destruction of stocks of chemical weapons in Syria and guarantee the complete prohibition of production. Therefore, in the opinion of the Secretary of state, the blame for that again in Syria was used chemical weapons, lies with Russia.

According to Tillerson, not so important, “was Russia a partner, or her specialists were incompetent, or the Syrian government outsmarted them” — in any case, the Russian side “has not fulfilled its obligations to the international community.”

However, as said Tillerson, the US has no evidence that Russia somehow knew about the impending chemical attack on the city of Khan shaykhun in the Syrian province of Idlib or took part in it.

On the morning of 4 April, the city of Khan shaykhun in Idlib was bombed.

Immediately after the air strike people on the ground began to choke. Victims of spraying of highly toxic sarin gas, according to the latest data, there were 89 people, including 33 children and 18 women. Opposition activists said that the airstrike on a town in North-West Syria has made the aircraft the Syrian army or the Russian aviation.

Activists from the opposition claimed that the aircraft then fired missiles at the local hospitals, where assistance was given to victims.

France, Britain and the US believes Damascus culprit of the gas attack.

Official Damascus denies involvement in chemical attack. Russia supporting the Assad regime, suggested after the attack that the Syrian air force could bomb the chemical weapon warehouse of the rebels.

Three days after the attack on Idlib, on 7 April, two American destroyers, in the Mediterranean South of Cyprus, has released 59 cruise missiles “Tomahawk” on the airfield Sarat in the West Syrian province of HOMS.

The US President Donald trump called the attack retribution for the chemical attack in Idlib province.

The Kremlin condemned the US action and said the strikes on Syrian air force base was de facto applied in the interests of the banned in Russia as extremist groups “Islamic state” and “Dzhebhat EN-Nusra”.

Rex Tillerson on 12 planned April visit to Moscow, during which he is expected to meet with Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
