The interior Ministry has proposed to make Amateur photo evidence of traffic violations

MIA is going to submit to the state Duma a bill providing for the punishment of violators of traffic rules on the basis of photographs and videos taken by bystanders. This was told first Deputy interior Minister of Russia Alexander Gorovoy, RIA Novosti reported.

“In the near future will be made law violations through mobile devices by citizens of the Russian Federation. The concept of the law formulated, today held last-minute negotiations at the government level,” he said.

Eyewitness recorded traffic violations must be sent to the government services portal, where the information will be transmitted to the data processing centre of the Ministry of interior.

To develop an appropriate package of amendments to the Code of administrative offences was reported in August 2016. It was noted that photos and videos must be taken by users through a special app. The recording cannot be edited. In addition, it will automatically send the geographic coordinates of the location.
