The Finance Ministry has proposed to require physicians to disclose medical confidentiality of the patients insurance companies. On Wednesday, April 5, reports “Kommersant”.

The relevant document is sent to the Agency, which until April 10, have to offer their comments.

The explanatory Memorandum notes that currently physicians have the right to deliver to the insurer any information with the written consent of patients. However, according to the Russian Union of insurers (VSS) in 50 percent of cases, companies receive waivers. It is noted that the “failure to timely establish the fact of occurrence of the insured event leads to a significant increase in terms of payments or failures in them.”

Clarifies that the disclosure of medical confidentiality interests of a company specializing in personal insurance. According to the Vice-President of VSS Maksim Danilov, in the world of personal insurance accounts for up to 80 percent of the fraud cases, and in Russia are considered to be doubtful about 10 percent of payments of insurers.

The health Ministry noted that the bill has not yet been reported to the office, but it will be considered in due order.
