Half of Russians said about the priority of their rights over the state

Almost half of Russians (47 percent) believe that everyone has the right to fight for their rights, even if it is contrary to the interests of the state. This is evidenced by the data of the survey “Levada-Center”, published by the “Interfax”.

At the same time, about a quarter of respondents (24 per cent) replied that in some cases the interests of the country can agree with the infringement of the rights of citizens. Another 10 percent put state interests above individual rights, while 13 percent believe that the needs of the individual more important.

A third of participants (31 percent) believe that “the state gives us a lot, but you can require and more,” even as many hold the opposite point of view — “the government gives us so little that we do not owe anything”. About 19 percent of respondents believe that it is necessary “to force the state to serve our interests,” and 11 percent and agree to make some sacrifice to help the country in not an easy position.

The survey “Levada-Center” was held from March 2 to 6. It was attended by 1,600 people in 48 regions of Russia.
