Gorbachev said that the poems Yevtushenko responded in the hearts of millions of people
MOSCOW, 1 Jul — RIA Novosti. The only President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev expressed his condolences in connection with the death of the poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko and stressed that he was a poet whose poetry has responded in the hearts of millions of people.

The poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko died on Saturday in USA on 85-m to year of life. As reported RIA Novosti his widow Maria Novikova, the poet died surrounded by family “peacefully, in his sleep from heart failure”.
“It is unfortunate that left us Yevgeny Yevtushenko. He was a poet whose poetry has responded in the hearts of millions of people. Until the end of his days he remained alive, bright, caring human being, a citizen,” said Gorbachev to journalists on Saturday.
He expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the poet.
“His unforgettable role in the rise of the 60s. He and his friends sincerely and passionately supported the restructuring, the turn to democracy in the country. I met with him at different times and in different circumstances, I saw before me a man, cares for the fate of the country and the world who believe in good, seeker of justice. I am sure that the poems of great poet will live long the memory of him and gratitude to him will remain in the hearts of the people”, — added ex-the President of the USSR.
