MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered to turn off outside lighting at the official residence of the President. Thus the Moscow Kremlin will take part in the international ecological action “Earth Hour”.
As the press service of the President, the lighting will be switched off on 25 March for one hour from 20:30 to 21:30 GMT.
The Kremlin for the fifth time will participate in “Earth Hour” — the first time illumination of the Kremlin as a sign of environmental protection was repaid in 2013. Russia takes part in the campaign since 2009.
The official representative of the Federal guard service (FSO), which is the residence of the President, Sergey Devyatov in an interview with TASS said that during the “Earth Hour” will turn off lighting around the perimeter of the Kremlin. “It will remain to burn only light of the standard of the President on the First building of the Kremlin”, — he said.
In a press-service of the Cabinet TASS reported that will join the campaign and government. The main building of the Cabinet of Ministers on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment for one hour on Saturday will turn off exterior lighting.
“Earth hour” — an annual international ecological action of the world wildlife Fund (WWF) aimed at attracting the attention of the inhabitants of the planet to the problem of climate change. The essence of the action that at one and the same time for one hour people around the world voluntarily turned off the lights, and the buildings that are symbols of certain countries, off exterior decorative lights.
“Earth hour” is the largest mass action in human history. Last year it supported more than 2 billion people from 178 countries, including 22 million Russians.
This year in Russia, the lighting of administrative buildings will also be disabled in the cities of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok, Yakutsk, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Yekaterinburg, Saratov, Murmansk, Krasnodar, St.-Petersburg, Kaliningrad.
