Kiev could impose sanctions against visited the Crimea of representatives of the European Parliament and the European, Ukrainian and Latin American politicians. As reported in the Sunday, March 18, on the website of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine, this was stated by the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov.
According to him, before the security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is tasked to analyze information on the presence of foreign politicians and parliamentarians on the Peninsula. “SBU shall prepare and submit for consideration of the NSDC of Ukraine the list of officials of the European Parliament and politicians from European Union countries, CIS and Latin America, which, according to Russian media reports, arrived on a three-day visit to annexed Crimea”, — says the publication.
Turchinov explained that if this information is confirmed, at the meeting of the Council will consider the introduction of restrictive measures. “In addition, verification is also information on participation in this advocacy of Ukrainian citizens, and in the case of confirmation of their stay in the Crimea should be opened criminal proceedings in accordance with the current legislation”, — added the NSDC Secretary.
Deputy Prime Minister of Crimea, Georgy Muradov stated RIA Novosti that he sees no logic in the actions of Kiev, which, on the one hand, requires that the Peninsula was visited by international observers, and with another — threatens sanctions. “They will soon deputies of the parliaments of all countries and not all foreign citizens will be banned in Ukraine. Apparently, this is what they want,” said Muradov.
Earlier, on 19 March it was reported about the arrival in Crimea on a three-day visit of foreign delegation composed of about 20 people. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on nationalities Ruslan Balbec, they came to see what life is like Crimea on the third anniversary of reunification with Russia. According to the publication “news of the Crimea”, among the delegates — members of the Serbian radical party Milovan Boich, dubravko campara, Boic and Alexander Seselj, writer Srdja Trifkovic, MP, Parliament of the Czech Republic Jaroslav Golik, MEPs, legislators from Germany, great Britain, Baltic countries, politicians from Brazil and Kyrgyzstan.
Crimea became part of Russia in the spring of 2014 as a result of the referendum, the vast majority of participants who voted for this decision. Kiev refuses to recognize the results of the plebiscite, calls the Peninsula occupied territory and requires the return of it. Moscow insists that the procedure was conducted in full accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Crimea issue “is closed permanently.”
