The head of the U.S. state Department also noted that in order to achieve future security and economic prosperity, Pyongyang must realize the necessity of renouncing his quest for weapons of mass destruction. “Including nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles,” — said Tillerson after talks with the foreign Minister of South Korea Yun Byung-Se.
On 7 March the United States began deploying the first elements of missile defense in South Korea. It will be finished in a month. The system will be operational in April.
The day before North Korea launched the missiles from the province’s Do. Presumably, it is a test of Intercontinental ballistic missile KN-08 & KN-14. The launch coincided with South Korea’s large-scale Korean-American military exercises.
On the same day, North Korean Agency KCNA said that the purpose of the missile tests has been practicing attacks on U.S. bases in Japan.
System THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) is designed for high-altitude interception missiles with a medium range. The THAAD battery will consist of a missile defense radar TPY-2 TM, six launchers, 48 interceptors, as well as control panel and generator.
