He notes that warnings have been issued for the material, the content of which, according to the Agency, “can harm national interests of the country”. The letter, dated March 14, the editors received on Friday, March 17.
As specified in the message, we are talking about the material, of 15 February, which was “about Belarusian volunteers who are fighting in Ukraine on the side of the Kiev authorities about why they went to fight in another country.”
“The article contained a note that the text does not reflect the revisions tut.by the conflict in the Donbass and participation of our citizens in it. It was also stated that the penal code prohibits Belarusians to participate in any military conflicts abroad — for money or free of charge,” reads the statement of the portal.
The material is already deleted from the portal. And the editors asked the Ministry of Information asking to clarify what exactly the phrase in the material contravene existing legislation and what regulations are violated.
“The presence among those fighting in the Ukraine, who came back on their own initiative of Belarusian citizens (and citizens of other States), is not a mystery. A number of citizens have been prosecuted for such actions on the territory of Belarus to liability. The participation of such individuals in the fighting is not part of our foreign policy, such actions are a criminal offence, as we have repeatedly written,” — said General Director of “Buy Here Media” Lyudmila Chekina.
