Russian President Vladimir Putin reminded the prosecutors that they should increase the financial discipline and to prevent the squandering or misappropriation of budgetary funds. His words on Tuesday, March 14, is the site of the Kremlin.
“In public procurement, fulfillment of orders, management of state property and the implementation of infrastructure projects should continue to strengthen control,” — said Putin, speaking at an enlarged meeting of the Collegium of the Prosecutor General.
Combating corruption and crime, the President called the most important direction of work of Department. “Here you need a competent, professional work at all stages — from prevention of crime to support a conviction in court,” — said the head of state.
He also noted that last year on prosecutorial checks instituted 3.8 thousand criminal cases against corruption.
In addition, to ensure the interests of citizens and the state, prosecutors need to be crystal honest and effective in the fight against corruption, Putin said. “And the confidence of the people need certainly to justify, and every day in practical, daily work”, he concluded.
On 31 October Russia’s President was relieved of his post of Prosecutor of the Leningrad region Stanislav Ivanov. The next day he was prosecuted for receiving bribes amounting to 20 million rubles.
