German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said the difficulty of continuing to work with Turkey on economic aid because of the scandal with the visits of Turkish Ministers in some EU countries, as well as the arrest of a German journalist of Turkish origin in Istanbul, reports Reuters.
“Under such circumstances, of course, very difficult to continue to work on it. We don’t want to aggravate the situation, all in the German government agree, we only want to bring Turkey back to reason”, — quotes Agency the words of schäuble.
Relations between Berlin and Ankara deteriorated after the arrest of a German journalist of Turkish origin Deniz Judges in Istanbul. He is suspected by Turkish authorities to “participation in a terrorist organization, illegal use of data, promoting terrorism”. German Chancellor Angela Merkel demanded Ankara release Judges and to respect freedom of the media.
The protesters had replaced the Dutch flag on the Turkish Consulate of the Netherlands in Istanbul.
