Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Netherlands is acting like a “banana Republic” and urged to impose sanctions against the country. Thus he commented on the diplomatic scandal that erupted between Ankara and Amsterdam, reports Reuters on Sunday, March 12.
“Europe has objected to anything? No. Why? Because they don’t bite each other. The Netherlands act as a banana Republic,” — said the Turkish leader during his speech in Kocaeli. He called on “all international organizations in Europe and other countries” to introduce restrictive measures against Amsterdam.
Earlier on March 12 the Prime Minister of Turkey, Binali Yildirim stated that Turkey will react very harshly to the actions of the Dutch authorities, who decided to expel the Turkish Minister of family and social policies Fatma Betul saillant Kaya.
