The fight against terrorism in the Syrian Arab Republic will become fully effective only when coordination of actions of all parties, including government forces, aerospace forces (VKS) Russia and the Western coalition. This was stated by Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev, RIA Novosti reported on Friday, March 10.
“The state Department reports that the U.S. intends to carry out the operation for the liberation of Raqqa from Syrian militants (banned terrorist organization “Islamic state” — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), together with Turkey and its partners in the coalition. The coalition, which, despite its numerous composition [68 countries], for more than five years, failed to achieve any notable successes in the fight against terrorism,” said the Senator.

Kosachev also noted that the coalition’s actions on the Syrian territory must be agreed with the legitimate authorities of Syria and to obtain the approval of the UN security Council. Otherwise, a question will be raised about their legitimacy.
“Anyway, any effort aimed at combating the common enemy, will not be superfluous. But no “racing ambitions” should not be here. Coordination is essential to their effectiveness”, — said the Senator.
Kosachev stressed that the Russian side is ready to cooperate and has demonstrated that, in particular, interacting with Iran and Turkey.
