MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Chairman of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin considers that the Russian delegation will talk with the leadership of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that will be held in Madrid at the meeting of the standing Committee of the PACE. As expected, the focus of the discussion will be ways out of the protracted crisis in relations between Russia and the Strasbourg Assembly.
“The delegation is prepared, they are professionals, those who found today (with guide Assembly), proficient PACE and problems associated with the inadequacy of regulations, which regulates the delegations of PACE,” said Volodin TASS, responding to a question about his expectations from this meeting. “So I think that conversation needs to happen,” he confirmed.
Russian deputies and senators arrived in Madrid Thursday, March 9, at the invitation of the Chairman of PACE Pedro Agramunt. The delegation is headed by Vice-speaker of the state Duma Pyotr Tolstoy. The lower house also are the chairmen of committees on international Affairs and CIS Affairs, Eurasian integration and relations with compatriots Leonid Slutsky and Leonid Kalashnikov, and the Federation Council – the head of the Committee for international Affairs Konstantin Kosachev, and his Deputy Vladimir Lukin.
Of the 15 issues on the agenda of the standing Committee (so-called mini-session of PACE), the delegation of the Russian Federation will be present during the examination one is an exchange of views with the representatives of the Parliament of the Russian Federation on the modalities of cooperation between the PACE and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in 2017. Also, as explained TASS the state Duma, a possible meeting of Russian parliamentarians on the “margins” of the meeting with the leadership of the Assembly and the leaders of its political groups.
