Canadian scientists from the University of Western Ontario was able to fix the functioning of the brain even after the death of the rest of the body. Data about the study was published in the journal of the Cambridge University Press.
In the experiment, the scientists removed the electroencephalogram from four incurable patients half an hour before from disconnecting from the ventilator and an hour after that.
It is noted that in all cases in the brain of patients were recorded unusual electrical fluctuations even after death. Moreover, one patient even ten minutes after the heart stops, the brain is kept active, radiating a Delta-rhythms.
For a long time it was believed that death occurs at the moment of cardiac arrest, recent studies scholars argue that it is not. However, the researchers emphasize that before making final judgments you need to conduct some additional research.
