The Russian Embassy in Ankara sent an official request to the Turkish side in connection with the appearance in the media publications about the arrest of the Russians allegedly linked to the murder of Ambassador Andrei Karlov. Previously, a number of Turkish publications, including Yeni Akit Gazetesi, reported the arrest of 33-year-old Russian woman Catherine (surname not stated). In addition, the article claimed that a Russian citizen allegedly involved in the organization of prostitution in five star hotels in the city.
The Russian Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov was killed on December 19 last year during a speech at the opening of the photo exhibition in Ankara. He was shot by a former police officer Altıntaş, which subsequently eliminated the local security forces. The Russian foreign Ministry considered the incident a terrorist attack.
