The house Committee on intelligence will examine the data about the wiretapping trump
If evidence of the alleged surveillance would be found, the investigation will continue, said the head of the Committee Devin Nunes.
WASHINGTON, March 5. /Offset. TASS Boris Makarov/. Committee on intelligence of the house of representatives of the U.S. Congress will hold a hearing on the alleged surveillance by the U.S. government for presidential candidates in the framework of the already initiated investigation of an alleged Russian interference in the election campaign.
The corresponding statement to this effect was circulated on Sunday, the Committee Chairman Devin Nunes.
“One of the key aspects of the investigation by the house Committee on intelligence, for the reaction of the US Federal government to the actions undertaken by agents of the Russian intelligence services during the presidential campaign,” the document says.
“In this regard, the Committee will conduct the necessary checks to find out was whether the government carried out surveillance of any of the candidates or their deputies, and we will continue the investigation, if they found any proof of that”, — stated in the circulated document.
Earlier on Sunday, the White house issued a statement in which he appealed to Congress with a demand to hold a trial about the alleged abuse of authority of the Executive branch under President Barack Obama.
The corresponding reaction followed remarks by US President Donald trump, who on Saturday on his page in the microblog Twitter wrote that the Obama administration carried out the wiretapping in the building of the Trump Tower in new York city that housed the campaign headquarters of the Republican.
The current head of state has compared this practice with the Watergate scandal, which led in 1974 to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.
