ISS raised the height of the orbit by 1 km
As a result of the maneuver, the average height of the station above the earth’s surface increased to 404,5 km.
MOSCOW, March 2. /TASS/. The international space station (ISS) via Ground command conducted a manoeuvre to increase the height of its orbit of 1 km reported by TASS in Moscow mission control Center (MCC).
“According to preliminary calculations service ballistic and navigation support MCC, the average height of the station above the Ground at the end of the maneuver will increase by about 1 km and reach 404,5 km”, — said in the MCC.
The operation to raise the height of the orbit was performed by the inclusion of engines of the Russian service module “Zvezda”. They were included in 6:35 and worked for about 40 seconds.
“The purpose of correction — the formation of ballistic conditions for the launch of manned spacecraft “Soyuz MS-04″, scheduled for 20 April 2017,” he said at MCC.
