Russia has called for maximum restraint on the Korean Peninsula
Moscow called on the parties to the conflict on the Korean Peninsula to solve problems through peaceful means. This is stated in the message published on the Russian MFA website. As follows from the text, the head of the Ministry Sergey Lavrov met with his North Korean counterpart Lee Yong-Ho 7 August in Manila on the sidelines of the Ministerial meeting of the ASEAN Regional forum for security (ARF). The Ministers discussed the development of bilateral relations and the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. “Sergei Lavrov urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint in order to avoid the implementation of negative security scenarios on the Korean Peninsula, the statement says, and immediately begin seeking out political and diplomatic resolution through complex decision of problems of the Peninsula, including its denuclearisation”. On 5 August the UN Security Council adopted a resolution tightening sanctions against Pyongyang. Now North Korea is
