More than 80% of older Russians get their news from TV, learned sociologists

MOSCOW, Aug 7 — RIA Novosti. Television remains the most common source of information for the Russians, however, the Internet comes close to him in popularity, mainly due to the young audience: if more than 80% of older people regularly receive information on TV, about the same number of young Russians often used for this purpose, the network, the survey showed the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM).

However, say the sociologists, the high popularity of TV supported mostly by the older generation: 87% in the group of respondents of 60 years of age is often watching the Federal channels. This proportion is almost halved among young people aged 18-24 years (48%) indicated in the survey materials.

Official web sites, according to VTSIOM, already exceeds regional TV frequency of reference audience, even in the sample as a whole (46%). However, they have become the most frequently used source of information for those who are 18 to 34 years: the Internet continually turning 82% of respondents aged 18-24 years and 59% in the group from 25 to 34 years.
