The Russians are losing interest in the celebration of may day, the survey showed
MOSCOW, April 29 — RIA Novosti. To celebrate the First of may this year are about 49% of Russians, the lowest figure in 15 years, the results of the survey “Levada-center”.
The highest proportion of Russians planned to celebrate the Day of spring and labour, was recorded in 2002 — 69%. A year earlier the figure was 45%.
To participate in the demonstration on may 1 in support of the President and the government wanted 15% of the respondents and against the economic and social policy of the authorities — 10%
Refuse to participate in such actions, 79% and 83% of Russians, respectively. 6% were undecided.
The survey was conducted from 21 to 24 April, among 1.6 thousand people. It was attended by adult residents of the 137 settlements in 48 regions of the country. The margin of error (with probability 0.95) does not exceed 1.5% for indicators close to 5% / 95%.
The holiday, which is celebrated in Russia, USA and some countries of Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia in the first day of may, known by several names — international workers ‘ Day, Day of Spring and Labor, labor Day, spring Day. In Soviet times the majority of Russians called this holiday on the date of the meeting — may 1 or may day.
