Post-war diary Kennedy went under the hammer for 718 thousand dollars
MOSCOW, 27 Jun — RIA Novosti. Diary of the 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy, which he kept during the trip to postwar Europe, sold on the American auction RR Auction for 718 thousand dollars, informs Agency associated Press.
The new owner of the 61-page document was the collector Joseph Alsop (Joseph Alsop) who collects things related to Kennedy. In the 1960-ies, when he was 16 years old, Alsop himself met with Kennedy at the house of his uncle, the famous columnist of the time.

“I think that is a wonderful thing, dedicated to the development of Kennedy as a person. It shows an amazing level of understanding of world events at a very young age,” said Alsop.
The diary was written in 1945, when 28-year-old future President was travelling as a journalist in post-war Europe. In it, Kennedy described his impressions of postwar Germany and expressed their views on the situation in the world. In particular, he wrote about Hitler and the UN, expressing doubts about the effectiveness of just forming at that time an international organization.
Up for auction a diary of the future American leader put up by his former assistant, Deidre, Anderson (Deirdre Henderson), who received it from the hands of the President at the end of 1950-ies.
