So the Deputy of the state Duma, the former Prosecutor of the Crimea Natalia Polonskaya commented on the proposals of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (COE), Thorbjorn Jagland, to send to the Peninsula the mission of the Committee for the prevention of torture and inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
His proposal for Crimea, Jagland made the 25 of April, in Strasbourg, answering questions of deputies of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). He explained that gets a “causing concern reports about the situation in the prisons” in the region.
“In the Council of Europe, of course, know about the real situation in the Crimea. That Peninsula is developing dynamically, there is no discrimination on ethnic or other grounds, of course not. Western politicians it is time to stop all speculation in this respect”, – wrote the MP on his page on Facebook. “Of course, no horror that they talk about Western policy in the Crimea is not and can not be”, – she added.
While Poklonskaya said that a year ago, the COE delegation headed by the special representative of the Secretary-General gérard Stoudmann as visited the Crimea. “Guests were able to ask questions to the heads of government bodies and law enforcement agencies of the Crimea, to communicate with the various organizations of the Crimean Tatars and even to assess the conditions of detention in prison,” – said the Deputy.
“If they want to see our unique Peninsula, so right let say: “Like us in Russian Crimea to ride!”” – she wrote.
