MOSCOW, 23 APR — RIA Novosti. At least ten Iraqi soldiers were killed in an attack by militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) on a government convoy in Western Iraq, reports Agence France Presse with reference to the command.
“The militants, armed with rifles and rocket launchers attacked civilians and military transport, which was carrying soldiers near the (city) Rutba”, — said the Colonel.
“They killed at least ten people and wounded 20”, — he said.
Other officials confirmed the Agency with information about the attack and the data on the lost. The mayor of Rutba reported that the attack occurred around 18.00 to the East of the city.
In 2014-2015, the terrorists captured most of Anbar province, where the city of Rutba, but the Iraqi army returned to many areas under its control. Under the control of ISIS, according to the Agency, there remain some areas in the province, located near the Syrian border.
