Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to discuss the DPRK issue at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Russia, scheduled for the end of this month. With such statement the head of the Japanese government spoke at the meeting of Parliament.

“During scheduled for the last week of the April meeting with President (Vladimir) Putin I plan to hold a Frank exchange of views on the problem of North Korea,” said Prime Minister, noting that it will “require Russia to play a constructive role.”

As reported earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry, the visit of the Japanese Prime Minister is scheduled for late April. According to Japanese press, Abe will visit Russia on April 27-28. As expected, the topics of the talks during the visit will be the development of bilateral relations and issues of joint economic activities on southern Kuriles. However, as stated, on 13 April, the Secretary-General of the Japanese Cabinet Yoshihide Suga, Abe intends to raise international issues, including to discuss the situation in Syria.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula escalated in early last year, when Pyongyang carried out a nuclear test and later launched a ballistic missile artificial satellite of the Earth. In September 2016, the DPRK conducted another nuclear test, and over the years has produced more than 20 rocket launches. In early March, 2017 after the next rocket launch command of the American contingent in the Republic of Korea has announced that it has begun the deployment of THAAD SAM for this country, despite the objections of Russia and China.

The United States recently stated several times that they consider all possible options toward Pyongyang. Shortly before the widely celebrated April 15 in Korea, the 105th anniversary of the birth of Kim Il-sung’s Pacific command, us forces directed towards the Korean Peninsula strike group of the Navy headed by the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson. The expert community warned that on this date Pyongyang may conduct another nuclear test, but this did not happen. The next day, the DPRK attempted another missile launch, which, according to US forces, was not successful – the rocket exploded shortly after launch.

The resolutions of the UN Security Council, the DPRK prohibits any activity associated with the development of nuclear weapons and their means of delivery. In Pyongyang, these documents do not recognize, arguing that the country has every right to strengthen defenses against the backdrop of the hostile policy of Washington.
