Special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on Syria Staffan de Mistura at the UN security Council session stated that Russia and the U.S. should find common ground and to work out options for cooperation for political settlement of the armed conflict in Syria.
De Mistura also welcomed the meeting of foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov and the head of the US state Department Rex Tillerson in Moscow, noting that both Washington and Moscow “have serious differences but also common interests and responsibility.”
“They have to find a way to work together to stabilize the situation, acting deliberately, realistic and consistently in order to support the political process”, — concluded UN special envoy on Syria.
