The President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated Anatoly Bibilov’s victory in the presidential elections in South Ossetia. This was reported on the Kremlin website Monday, April 10.
“I note with satisfaction the high level of traditionally friendly Russian-South Ossetian relations. I am sure that with your election relations between the two countries based on principles of Alliance and integration will be further developed”, — said in a congratulatory telegram.
Putin stressed that Moscow will continue to contribute to addressing issues of socio-economic development and national security.
Bibilov’s main rival in the presidential race was the acting head of the Republic Leonid Tibilov. According to preliminary data of the CEC of South Ossetia, which leads TASS, he scored 30 percent of the vote. Voted for Bibilov 57,98 percent of voters.
Earlier on Monday the Kremlin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said the democracy and transparency of elections in South Ossetia, which took place on Sunday, April 9.
South Ossetia, which declared its independence from Georgia in 1991, has the status of partially recognized Republic. It is considered an independent state five countries: Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Nauru and Tuvalu.
