Turkey said that Russia is inactive in the background of the breakdown of the ceasefire in Syria
ANKARA, 9 Aug — RIA Novosti. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Moscow has not taken the necessary steps in connection with the violations of the ceasefire in Syria, about which he informed in a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
“Turkey remains committed to the cease-fire in Syria, but Russia must cease to insist that Assad should remain as leader of the country. I told his Russian counterpart that Moscow has not taken the necessary steps in connection with the breach of Syria ceasefire” — said the Chairman of the TV channel TRT on Sunday.
Earlier, the Russian foreign Ministry praised the role of Ankara in the settlement in Syria, noting that “Turkey is one of the guarantors of the maintenance of the cease-fire,” and calling the constructive cooperation with it.
