Scientists from Boston University have traced the trends of choosing people spouses in the last 60 years and found that people used more likely to chose a genetically similar partners. A study published in the journal PLOS Genetics.

According to scientists, if the husband and wife like each other, it’s not always a coincidence.

The researchers studied genetic similarity between spouses in three generations. Researchers analyzed data on 879 married couples, who were going since 1948.

The researchers found that people of Northern and southern Europe and Ashkenazi Jews were mainly chosen partners, relatives, genetically.

However, in two subsequent generations, people are less likely to choose their spouses of a person with similar genes. The results of this study show how demographic patterns have changed in the last 60 years.
