Continued: the state Duma explained the decision not to call Ukraine at security conference
The defense Ministry did not invite their Ukrainian colleagues to the Moscow conference on international security. About it reports “Interfax” with reference to Deputy defense Minister of Russia, Alexander Fomin on Wednesday, April 5.
“The invitation to this conference Ukraine we did not fly,” — said Fomin.
According to him, between the defense ministries of the two countries a lot of complex issues, including those relating to security in the border areas. They are discussed on the grounds of the OSCE and the UN, as well as under the “Normandy format”, the Deputy Minister said.
However, the Ministry was invited to the event Chairman of the NATO military Committee Peter Paul, the answer is not received. The representative of the liaison mission of NATO in Moscow, Colonel Antonio Sandri confirmed participation in the conference, but from the speech he refused, said Fomin.
“It is expected the participation of more than 700 guests, including about 500 representatives of foreign States. Representatives from 78 countries have confirmed their participation”, — quotes the Deputy Minister of RIA Novosti.
On 30 March the permanent representative of Russia to NATO Alexander Grushko said that the Russian defense Ministry invited the Alliance to restore the system working contacts between the military, in order to reduce the danger of “unpredictable incidents”.
Representatives of Ukraine were left without invitations to the conference in 2015-2016. Military-diplomatic source explained this decision by the possibility of “unexpected behavior of the Ukrainian colleagues”.
Moscow security conference held annually since 2012. This year the forum will be held April 26-27.
