Head of chief Directorate for migration, Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia Olga Kirillova said that over the past five years, notes the increase in the number of foreigners seeking Russian citizenship, reports TASS.
“Over the past five years, the trend of growth of acquisition of citizenship of Russia. In 2016 all 363,5 thousand people received Russian citizenship. The bulk of the amount is 245 thousand foreign nationals who acquired it by the simplified procedure”, – she said.
She also said that in 2016 Russia is home to more than 620 thousand.
Earlier, the Cabinet has simplified obtaining Russian citizenship for Russian speakers.
