Yevgeny Yevtushenko
The poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko died of cancer. This was reported by RIA Novosti, the family friend Michael Morgulis. According to him, the poet had cancer in an irreversible form. “After studying the tests doctors gave him three months to live, but he lived less than a month,” said Morgulis.
“Last night I talked to him. He asked me to tell him something important. I told him that he lived a great life, which has done a lot for the people of God, celebrating the victory of the spirit. And he said to me: “I would like to make between America and Russia was at peace that we were friends and everyone in these countries were happy”,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
He added: “We talked about good and evil.” “Evgeny asked to pray, I asked God to show mercy to him, and if he leaves it to be without pain. And so it happened — he went to heaven in her sleep, without suffering,” said Morgulis.
The poet’s son Yevgeny told the Associated Press that the first cancer diagnosis Yevtushenko put about six years ago. Then he did surgery and removed part of the kidneys, but recently the disease returned.
Doctors diagnosed the last, fourth stage of cancer. On Friday, March 31, his condition began to deteriorate dramatically. However, Yevtushenko died painlessly, said the son of a writer. “He left rather quietly, painlessly. I held his hand for about an hour before his death. He knew that love,” — said Eugene, Jr., and added that around in the last hours were family members and friends.
Yevtushenko died in the US on Saturday, April 1, the day after hospitalization. He was 84 years old. The poet asked to be buried in suburban Peredelkino near the grave of Boris Pasternak.
