Define a new way to extend the life
Scientists from Stockholm University in Sweden found that a long sleep at the weekend may compensate for the lack of it in everyday life to prevent the related disease, and reduce the risk of premature death. This publication reports Science Alert.
The experts observed the volunteers for 13 years, to determine the mortality rate among those who slept less than five hours per night, and those who paid to sleep six to seven hours per day (control group). Taking into account such factors as gender, body mass index, physical activity, alcohol consumption and Smoking.
It turned out that people under the age of 65 years who have had lack of sleep, the risk of premature death increased by 65 percent. However, scientists said that if they slept longer at weekends, their health status did not differ from the control group. The alignment of the mortality was also the case of volunteers older than 65 years, as people of retirement age are less likely to suffer from lack of sleep.
In addition, the researchers found that too much sleep (over nine hours) was also associated with an increased risk of premature death.
