The court sentenced the defendants in the case of theft on the East
MOSCOW, 21 Feb — RIA Novosti. Simonovsky court of Moscow sentenced to terms ranging from four and a half to eight years in prison the defendants in the case of embezzlement of funds during the construction of the cosmodrome East, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.
The Prosecutor asked for Sergei Degtyarev ten years in prison with a fine of half a million rubles for his daughter, ex-Director General of Volgo-Vyatskaya construction company Evgeniya Degtyareva — eight years with a fine of 1.2 million rubles for the two ex-managers of the company — Alexander Bazankova and Murat Mateeva — seven years in prison with a fine of one million rubles.
The court began to pronounce sentence Thursday to read it fully took five days.
The defense called the verdict “unjust” and will appeal it.
Theft on East
The construction of the cosmodrome was accompanied by a number of criminal cases. So, in December the court arrested the head of one of the contractors working on the East. He is accused of receiving a bribe of one million rubles.
