Putin presented awards for human rights and charitable activities
MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin handing the state prize for outstanding achievements in the field of human rights and charitable activities of the winners of the 2017. The ceremony was held in the Catherine hall of the Kremlin.
This year’s award for outstanding achievement in human rights activism was awarded to the Chairman of the Moscow Helsinki group Lyudmila Alexeyeva. The winner of the award for outstanding achievement in the field of charitable activities was the Chairman of the charity Foundation for children with leukemia, the Republic of Tatarstan to them. A. Lyudmila Alexeyeva was one of the founders of the human rights organization “Public group of assistance to execution Helsinki agreements in the USSR” (Moscow Helsinki group, the Moscow Helsinki group) in 1976. The group was formed after the signing in Helsinki in 1975 by the heads of 35 countries, including the USSR, the Final act of the conference on security and cooperation in Europe. Among the main objectives of MHG — collection, compilation and analysis of information on violations of human rights and legal situation in the country and bringing this information to heads of States, signed the Helsinki agreement of 1975, rights advocacy, development of international cooperation, preservation and protection of identity, culture, languages and traditions of peoples of the Russian Federation.
Fond im. Angela Vavilova — the only one in Tatarstan hospice was founded in 2003 by parents who died from leukemia three years Angela Vavilova, Vladimir and Marina Vavilov. Its opening was held on June 2, 2014 in Kazan, later it began to accept and adults. Today, the hospice has 35 beds for children and adults by 2020 it is planned to increase their number to 100 beds.
