Italy declared a state of emergency due to the lack of Russian gas

Italy imposed a state of emergency (state of emergency) due to the termination of Russian gas supplies through the emergency distribution hub in Austria. This was reported on the website of the Ministry of economic development of the country.

The Ministry said that fuel supplies to Italian consumers will be provided in any case due to the inventories held in underground storage.

Earlier on 12 December in the explosion and ensuing fire at the largest gas distribution station in Baumgarten (Austria) began interruptions in the supply of fuel to consumers. In addition to Italy, Russian gas left Hungary and Slovenia.

The Austrian police in his Twitter says that the cause of the explosion was a technical malfunction. In the accident one person was lost, traumas and burns have received from 18 to 60 employees.

The Central European hub in Baumgarten is among the three largest gas distribution centers in Europe and is an international platform for trading this type of fuel.
