The Kremlin has not discussed the issue of the announcement of the boycott of the Olympic games until the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the participation of the Russian national team in international competitions in South Korea’s Pyeongchang, said press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov. His words to the correspondent “Tapes.ru” on Monday, December 4.
“You know that we still do not agree with many decisions that were made and the Board of WADA, and in relation to our athletes,” said Sands, answering the question, consider whether in the Kremlin the opportunity to declare a boycott before the IOC will make a decision on 5 December.
The spokesman also said that Moscow was against unproven infringement of the rights of Russian athletes, but at the same time retains its commitment to the ideals of Olympism. “This was said by President Putin, it’s his decision, and it saves all possible channels of interaction and dialogue with the IOC and other international sports organizations”, — said Peskov.
On 29 November the international Olympic Committee life was suspended three Russian athletes: bobsledder Alexander Kasyanov, Alexey Pushkarev and Ilvir Khuzina. All three are now forbidden to participate in the Olympic games and to attend any event held under the auspices of the IOC.
Earlier in the same month Russia by decision of the International Olympic Committee lost 10 medals won at the Games-2014 in Sochi. This resulted in several investigations, in which formed including documentaries German journalist, Hyo Seppelt about doping in Russian sports. Sanctions can be applied to the entire Russian team: 5 December, the IOC Executive Board will announce its decision about the participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic games-2018.
