Poroshenko: Ukraine needs a “cold peace” with Russia

KYIV, January 29. /TASS/. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the country needs a “cold peace” with Russia.

“Of course, we need peace with Russia. The cold, yet peace,” he said at the forum “From Cool to Brussels. We go our own way” in Kiev, where he announced his decision to participate in elections in March 2019.

In his words, “the theme of war and peace is one of the main election, because the people would elect not just the President but also the Supreme commander”.

However, he said that Kiev will continue the line “for the resumption of territorial integrity of Ukraine by political and diplomatic means,” putting that to guarantee peace can only be efficient army.

On assuming office in may 2014 Poroshenko promised that the military operation in the Donbass “will last not months, but hours.”
