Looks like the city in which the dead more than the living
Town of Colma California County of San MATEO known as the “City of souls” or “City of silence”.
The showers here are really a lot: it is about one and a half million people buried in the town. But living people is much less — only 1509.

This story began in 1849. The gold rush brought in San Francisco hundreds of thousands of people. Along with them came disease and high mortality. At this time in San Francisco appeared 26 cemeteries. Most of them have been filled already by the 1880s years.
The city began looking for new grounds for burials. They chose the southern part of Colma because of the convenient location. The first cemetery appeared here in 1887. Then, because land values in San Francisco were forbidden to bury at all. To Colma even moved all the old graves.

Today, the MCPFE has 16 cemeteries, including a pet cemetery. The city’s population is mostly employees of funeral homes and all related services.
Although Kolma — the place is quite sad, there are a lot of tourists. And the residents of the city belong to the native land with a sense of humor. “Great to be alive in the MCPFE” — reads the motto on the official city website.
