Moscow. 28 Dec. INTERFAX.RU — Acting chief of a corrective colony No. 14 in Mordovia is suspected of excess of powers of office. This was reported by the press service of the investigative Department of the TFR in the region on Friday.

According to investigators, the suspect “illegally organized offenders are in the correctional facility without their consent to performance of overtime work in the clothing industry, including at night, than has considerably violated their rights and legitimate interests and the legitimate interests of society and the state”.

Criminal case initiated on the basis of materials of inspection of the Federal penitentiary service of Russia and investigative activities of the Federal penitentiary service in the region, said the press service.

Investigators seized the necessary documents, interrogated prisoners performing work in the clothing industry, as well as correctional staff.

Informed source said the Agency “Interfax” that the case was filed against Yuri Kupriyanov, who was at that time Deputy chief of IK-14 and acting head of the colony.

Earlier this week, the Deputy Director of the FSIN Valery Maksimenko has informed “Interfax” that the leadership of IK-14 in Mordovia suspended from duty after a surprise inspection, which confirmed the testimony of former prisoner of exhausting labor in the institution.

“Following the inspection of the Central apparatus of the Federal penitentiary service, the chief of IK-14 Yury Kupriyanov and several of his subordinates removed from duty. All collected materials are transferred to investigating authorities,” — said Maksimenko.
