Peskov acknowledged “tension” between Chechnya and Ingushetia

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the existence of tensions between Chechnya and Ingushetia on the issue of the administrative border, stressing that Vladimir Putin gets all the necessary information.

Today, the Ingush interior Ministry reminded the citizens about responsibility of the organizers and participants of unauthorized rallies, marches and pickets. “The actions of individuals attempting to attempt to conduct mass events will be stopped”, — said on the Agency’s website.

According to reports, the day before local residents tried to protest against the transfer of neighboring Chechnya, part of the territory of the Sunzha district of Ingushetia, according to the agreement on the demarcation of the administrative border.

“Echo of Moscow” reported that in the capital of Ingushetia, Magas on Wednesday held an unauthorized rally against the change of borders, with the consent of the Republic’s leadership, the arrests started.

The administrative border of Chechnya and Ingushetia remains is not officially established since the dissolution of the former Chechen-Ingush ASSR in 1992. In 1993, the then leaders of Ingushetia, Ruslan Aushev and Chechnya Dzhokhar Dudayev signed a border Treaty in the Sunzha district, most of which departed Ingushetia. In 2003, the leaders of the republics Murat Zyazikov and Akhmad Kadyrov has signed a similar Protocol, according to which Chechnya departed the village of Sernovodsk and village of Assinovskaya of the Sunzha district.
