How to look like pools of lava in Portugal (photos)
A unique natural landmark.
Upstairs
In the North-West of the Portuguese island of Madeira is a small coastal town of Porto Moniz.
He came here in 1835, and perhaps it would have remained one of the average small settlements, if not for one interesting detail, which now tempts many tourists.
On the coast of Porto Moniz are amazing lava pools. Once near the eruption of the volcano, and lava flows reaching the Atlantic ocean froze on the surface, becoming natural pools with sea water.

The local authorities decided to use this gift of nature and made lava pools real resort: they lined the bottom, built around a convenient stairs and bridges and a Seating area.
The pools are connected with the ocean, so the water is constantly being updated. But when there are raging waves, visitors can enjoy the tranquility in the warm natural pools.
