Who requires you to indicate which books cannot be sold to children?
To print in the books age at which they should be read, demands the Federal law “On protection of children from information harmful to their health and development” (436-FZ).
It has been operational since 2012 and also applies to films, exhibitions and other “information products”.
What information is considered harmful to children?
According to the text, harmful to the children is the one that:
- encourages self-harm or kill themselves;
- is the desire to consume alcohol, drugs or tobacco, prostitution and begging, and so on;
- denies family values, forms of “disrespect” to the family and “promoting non-traditional sexual relations”;
- justifies violence and cruelty (except when talking about law enforcement or the protection of the state);
- contains foul language, pornography
Marked as undesirable for children products?
According to the law, the text books should be a sign indicating an age limit. There are four levels for children and adolescents (0+, 6+, 12+, 16+), as well as one for adults (18+).
By what criteria do books belong to one or another age group?
Category 0+ allow episodes of violence, if justified by genre are shown without naturalism, and in the end good triumphs over evil, and the victim of violence expressed compassion. The mention of sexual violence are prohibited.
