Antarus Archer — mushroom of the genus Reshetochki, but people call it the Fingers of the Devil.
This mushroom was named for the eerie appearance. In the egg stage it is similar to the gray-brown ball. When the mushroom grows, its ovoid shell bursts. Her rapidly developing receptacle, that is fruit body in the form of 3-8 red, spotted blades. They look like tentacles, and feels like a porous sponge.
Antarus Archer is found in coniferous and mixed forests with acidic soil from June to September. Its strong odor attracts insects, but the “scares” people. Because of this, the aroma of mushroom is edible.
The birthplace of the fungus in Australia and Tasmania. And in Europe and North America, it was brought not long ago. For the first time Antarus Archer saw in France in 1914. Scientists believe it came to Europe by accident — together with wool, which was imported from Australia.
