The nebula lies at a distance of about 7,500 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation of the Keel. In some regions next to each other birth and death of stars, forming a giant cloud of gas and dust, in the depths of which big stars emit powerful radiation.
Next to them are shaded areas where layers of dust hiding “newborn” stars. Their radiance “breaks” through a haze due to high-energy radiation and stellar wind.
Scientists were able to obtain detailed wide-angle image of the constellation with a telescope visible and infrared VISTA, located in Chile.
