CEC until the end of the week will decide whether the law is a question for the pension referendum of the Communist party

The party proposes to organize a nationwide referendum against raising the retirement age.

MOSCOW, July 23. /TASS/. The Central election Commission of Russia at a meeting later this week will decide whether the law question, which the Communist party proposes to put to a nationwide referendum against raising the retirement age. This was reported by TASS on Monday, the Secretary of the CEC, Maya Grishina.

“The law says [installed] ten days of receipt to us of notification. Therefore, [the meeting] before the end of this week,” she said, adding that the documents on the referendum, came to the CEC from the Moscow city election Commission last week.

The Communist party plans to organize a nationwide referendum against raising the retirement age. Moscow became the first region where there was a meeting of the regional initiative of the subgroup, then the application was filed in the Moscow city election Commission.

The Communists propose to put to a referendum the question “do you Agree that in Russia the age of eligibility for appointment of insurance old-age pension must not be increased?”

By law, the electoral Commission, which filed the first of the regional initiative groups, shall send to the CEC the wording of the referendum question, and the Agency decides whether it meets the requirements of the law.

After that, the electoral Commission must render a decision on registration of initiative groups. The electoral Commission of other regions where will take place the meeting of initiative groups, can be guided in its decisions on the recommendations made by the CEC verdict, said Grishin.

For the organization of a nationwide referendum is required to hold a meeting of the initial subgroups of no less than 100 people, more than half of subjects of the Russian Federation (i.e. at least 43). After successful registration of the subgroups in 43 regions held a meeting of their commissioners, subsequently, the Commission served a petition for registration of initiative group on referendum. In the case of a positive decision within 45 days of the initiative group must collect at least 2 million signatures, one region may have no more than 50 thousand autographs.
