The Cuban Parliament approved a constitutional reform

MEXICO city, 22 Aug — RIA Novosti. National Assembly of people’s power of Cuba on Sunday at its meeting approved a constitutional reform, implying a change in the basic law.

As the portal Granma, the draft of the new Constitution, the deputies voted unanimously.

The Parliament has also proposed in the period from 13 August to 15 November to make a new Constitution for discussion of a national referendum.

The new Constitution of Cuba enters a post of the President, limits the term of tenure for the head of state ten years, and also recognizes the right of private property. Also one of the main principles of the Cuban state is called the construction of socialism.

For the first time the text of the Constitution includes the prohibition of gender discrimination.
